The open letter on the effects of reforms on Belgium’s diplomacy to Commission Foreign Affairs (open letter, 4/12/2024)

Hi everyone 👋 Last month there was some discussion on the government negotiations and possible implications for us as partners, in particular pension rights and the marital coefficient. The board of BeFamily has taken these concerns to hearth (and we had actually already been discussing them internally as well). We decided to take some action, and launched a Working Group on this topic, consisting of BeFamily (board)members and with a clear task: draft an open letter regarding our concerns. We decided to direct the open letter to the members of the Commission of Foreign Affairs in the Chamber. With this letter we are trying to influence a political process (the government negotiations), and in absence of a new government, the Commission seemed like the obvious next choice. Obviously, we have also shared the letter with the Cabinet and the Ministry.

Please have a read, the letter is available in Dutch, French and English, though we only shared it in Dutch and French to the Commission. It is an open letter, so you are free to share it! ✉ 🤓
